What began as a struggle with an overwhelming cat population soon blossomed into a dedicated mission to improve feral cats’ lives in our Lyndhurst, Ontario community.
The Original Colony
The Lyndhurst Feral Cat Project began in 2014, inspired by a feral cat colony that had made the village of Lyndhurst their home. The original colony members, pictured in the slideshow above, were the heart of this initiative. This project was created to address the challenges of caring for and managing the feral cat population while showcasing the progress made over time to improve their lives.
Where We Are Now
A decade after starting in 2014, the Lyndhurst Feral Cat Project has grown into a thriving initiative, impacting both cats and communities. Today, we have a dedicated network of fosters and have successfully stabilized numerous colonies in Lyndhurst and the surrounding areas. Our work now extends to Seeley’s Bay, where we focus on stabilizing the feral cat population. Over the past 10 years, we’ve moved hundreds of cats through our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and adoption programs, creating healthier colonies and finding loving homes for countless cats.
Our Future Goals
As we look ahead, the Lyndhurst Feral Cat Project remains committed to creating a positive impact for feral cats and the communities they inhabit. We aim to continue to stabilize colonies, support fosters, and promote TNR programs. By continuing to educate and engage the community, we hope to build an even stronger network of advocates dedicated to improving the lives of feral and stray cats.
Our Mission
The Lyndhurst Feral Cat Project has spent the past decade working to stabilize the stray and feral cat population in Lyndhurst, Ontario, through a successful Trap/Neuter/Release program. Over the years, we have expanded our reach to surrounding areas, improved living conditions for countless cats, and supported fosters and colonies through education, partnerships, and community collaboration. Our vision remains focused on creating zero-growth, stable, and healthy feral cat colonies, and we continue to uphold the values of animal rights, education, partnership, cooperation, and activism as we move forward in our mission.
